Is There Really Such A Thing As Sexist Toys? (Part 1)

Why do people waste their time arguing over this. Whether it is racism, sexism, are you too fat, are you too thin, the argument has even moved on to toys. There are so many people out there now that are saying toys are promoting sexism. However is this the case or has the world just gone mad? Here are just some of the ones they are complaining about.

Doctors and Nurses

This is primarily a game played by children (will not go into the adult method). It would seem that it is the female that is moaning about this subject and there are some legitimate reasons behind it. Its the whole doctor is male, nurse is female issue.

This is the target audience it doesnt matter as it is doesnt have to be their only audience? When you look at the traditional kids outfits it is very clear that the nurses outfit is for the girls and the doctor is for either so surely the male is losing out here? A lot of people actually forget about the children and just choose this as an excuse to try and get things banned, girls are more interested in being nurses at a young age.

People are just trying to force the kids into things they do not want to do, if the girls is that interested in becoming a doctor they will grow up and get on with it.

Pirates

Even the bigger companies like Disney feel that a pirate role is best taken on by a boy. Is it really fair to say that a little girl cannot be a pirate? Of course it isn’t which is why companies do not actually care either way, people are again taking it out of proportion, if your little girl wants to be a pirate then she is able to become one.

The next part of this will discuss the all important action man and Barbie argument.

Don’t fall into the power of the media; you are the parents you can choose what Christmas toys to buy your children.
